The school USUALLY (but not always!) follows the lead of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. If the Pittsburgh Public Schools are delayed or canceled, then CommunityDay School will most likely be delayed or canceled. Watch the local news (WPXI, WTAE, KDKA), listen to the radio, or check the network websites (www.wpxi.com; www.wtae.com; www.kdka.com) for weather-related delays and closings.
On rare occasions, CommunityDay School will decide to hold school, with a delay, even though Pittsburgh Public Schools announce a closure. If your child takes a bus to school, provided by the school district in which you live, and your district cancels due to weather, your district will not provide transportation to CommunityDay School. You will then be responsible for bringing your child to school. In this event, notification will be made in the following ways:
·AlertNow, which includes telephone calls and emails ·Local news stations (WPXI, WTAE, KDKA) and their associated websites (see above).
Absences will be excused for children who are unable to attend due to a hardship in transportation. Remember that a "safety first" approach should always be your first consideration regarding inclement weather and your decision as to whether or not to attempt to get to school.
